Today Jerry and I went to the most boring "science camp" in existence.
Mom dropped us off at the gate of the teacher's apartment house where the teacher was waiting. His name was Mr. Lin just like my piano teacher, only my piano teacher is a girl, not a boy. We were late 40 minutes because we were supposed to get there at 10:00am. Fortunatly, we weren't the only ones. My second grader friend, Coco, her friend, Jorryn(3rd grade), and her big brother Jerry(5th grade)
We first went to his house, and it was really really messy and crowded. He had 2 kids and there were other kids in the "camp" too. Counting myself, my brother Jerry, the 2 kids, Coco, her brother Jerry, and her friend, Jorryn, there were 11 kids. The first thing they gave us was a notebook. When we told them we didn't bring pencils, they also borrowed us some. We drew a cross like the one in the picture only it was on the notebook and then we were supposed to move 4 bits to make it look sort of like a bow or something.
The next thing we did was something called the spider & fly. We drew a box and a spider was on one end and the fly on the other. We were supposed to find the shortest way to get to the fly without going through the box.
After that we were each given a paper cross like the one in the picture, and told to cut it into 4 pieces in 2 cuts, and be able to make the pieces into a filled in square. I got it eventually.
Then it was lunchtime. We got rice noodle and soup. For dessert we had apple slices and tomatoes. While we were eating, we watched avatar, you know, that movie. I don't think I liked it much.
As soon as lunch was over, we started a new project. this time it was with flashlights. we each drew a teeny picture on a clear piece of thingy and took turns taping it over the flashlight to see what it would look like. I drew 2 pictures, first a Christmas tree and at the last minute a little butterfly.
Then the 5 boys, started insisting that we go outside and play dodgeball. So we all went, out to the playground next to the building. None of the girls played except once for about 2 minutes. We stayed there for the rest of the time which is, until 3:30pm.
When the teacher said it was time to go, he took us to Coco's nearby piano teacher's house, where Coco was having piano class. There, we met her mom who told us that she would drive us to Mom's office. That was all we did at camp. It was really boring and complicated, especially since we had to learn a lot of math.
